AmendCheck ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of users of our document amendment verification service. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.
This Privacy Policy applies to your use of the AmendCheck web application accessible at amendcheck.onrender.com and any successor domains (the "Service"). It should be read together with our Terms and Conditions of Service.
By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our practices, you should not use the Service.
1. Who We Are
AmendCheck is operated by an individual based in Singapore. For data protection purposes, we are the data controller in respect of any personal data collected through the Service. If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact us at:

2. What Information We Collect
2.1 Documents you upload
When you use the Service, you upload PDF files for processing ("Documents"). These Documents are processed in temporary server memory solely for the purpose of performing the amendment check. We do not permanently store, retain, or archive your Documents after processing is complete.
Documents are not retained beyond the duration of your session or such short period as is technically necessary to complete the check. We do not use your Documents to train, fine-tune, or improve any AI model.
2.2 Usage and technical data
When you access the Service, our hosting infrastructure may automatically collect certain technical data, including:
- your IP address and general geographic region;
- browser type and version;
- the date and time of your request; and
- error logs and server performance data.
This data is collected by our hosting provider for operational and security purposes. We do not use it to identify individual users or track behaviour across sessions.
2.3 Result data
AmendCheck stores the results of your amendment check (the Report) on our servers for up to 30 days to allow you to revisit your results via a shareable link. The Report contains the output of the check — annotation classifications, status results, and details — but does not include the full content of your uploaded Documents. After 30 days, the Report is automatically deleted.
2.4 No account data currently collected
AmendCheck does not currently require user registration or the creation of an account. We do not collect names, email addresses, or payment information at this time. If we introduce user accounts or subscription billing in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly and users will be notified before those features are activated.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above solely for the following purposes:
- to provide the Service — processing your Documents and generating Reports in response to your requests;
- to maintain the security and operational integrity of the Service;
- to diagnose and resolve technical errors and issues;
- to comply with applicable legal obligations; and
- to improve the Service over time, using only aggregated and anonymised usage patterns — never your Document content.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or marketing purposes. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data or Document content to any third party.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We use the following third-party service providers to operate the Service. Each processes data only as necessary to provide its specific function:
- Anthropic, PBC (United States) — provides the AI models used to classify annotations and compare document content. Your Document content is transmitted to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic's privacy practices are governed by their own privacy policy, available at anthropic.com. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train its models by default.
- Render (United States) — provides cloud hosting and server infrastructure for the Service. Document processing occurs on Render's servers. Render's privacy practices are governed by their own privacy policy, available at render.com.
By using the Service, you acknowledge that your Documents will be transmitted to and processed by these third-party providers as part of the normal operation of the Service. If your Documents are subject to confidentiality obligations, professional secrecy rules, or data protection requirements that restrict transmission to third parties, you are responsible for ensuring that such transmission is permitted before using the Service.
5. Sensitive and Confidential Documents
AmendCheck is designed for use with professional documents, which may include legally privileged, commercially sensitive, or otherwise confidential content. You are solely responsible for determining whether it is appropriate to upload any Document to the Service, having regard to:
- any confidentiality obligations you owe to your clients or counterparties;
- any professional conduct rules that apply to your use of third-party technology;
- any legal professional privilege, attorney-client privilege, or similar protection that may attach to the Document; and
- any data protection obligations you have in respect of personal data contained in the Document.
We strongly recommend that you obtain appropriate advice or authorisation before uploading Documents that are subject to such obligations. AmendCheck does not provide privileged communication and uploading a privileged document may constitute a waiver of privilege depending on the law of your jurisdiction.
6. Data Retention
We retain different categories of data for different periods:
- Uploaded Documents: processed in temporary server memory only; not retained after the check is complete.
- Amendment Check Reports: retained for up to 30 days from the date of generation, after which they are automatically and permanently deleted.
- Server and access logs: retained by our hosting provider in accordance with their standard retention policies, typically 30 to 90 days, for operational and security purposes.
7. Cookies and Tracking
AmendCheck does not currently use cookies, tracking pixels, or similar technologies to collect data about your browsing behaviour. We do not use Google Analytics or similar analytics platforms at this time.
If we introduce cookies or analytics in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated and users will be informed.
8. International Data Transfers
AmendCheck is operated from Singapore. However, our hosting and AI processing providers are based in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to your data (including Document content) being transferred to and processed in the United States and potentially other jurisdictions.
We rely on our service providers' own compliance frameworks for international data transfers. If you have concerns about international data transfers in the context of your professional obligations or applicable data protection law, please consider this before using the Service.
9. Your Rights Under the PDPA
Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) governs our handling of personal data. To the extent that we hold any personal data about you, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal data we hold about you;
- withdraw consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal data (where consent is the basis for processing); and
- lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) of Singapore if you believe we have not complied with the PDPA.
Given that AmendCheck does not currently collect personal data beyond what is automatically captured by server infrastructure, and does not maintain user accounts, there is limited personal data for most users to access or correct. If you have a request relating to your personal data, please contact us using the details in clause 1.
10. Children
The Service is not directed at or intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided data through the Service, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
11. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the data processed through the Service, including:
- HTTPS encryption for all data in transit;
- processing Documents in isolated server memory that is not written to persistent storage; and
- restricting access to stored Report data to the specific share link generated at the time of the check.
However, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of data transmitted over the internet, and you use the Service at your own risk in this respect. You should not upload Documents that you cannot afford to have exposed in the event of a security incident.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Service, our practices, or applicable law. Where changes are material, we will endeavour to provide notice by posting a prominent notice on the Service before the changes take effect.
The effective date at the top of this document indicates when it was last revised. Your continued use of the Service after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
